Career Activities
West Millbrook Middle School hold different career events throughout the school year. In the Fall, we hold our sixth grade Truck Fair that highlights careers that use vehicles as a part of the speaker's workplace. In the Spring, we hold our Annual Career Day, participate in Engineering Week, and Job Shadowing for eighth graders. Throughout the school year, we invite different classroom speakers to come speak to our students based on the curriculum.

Career DayCareer Day is a coordinated effort between our Faculty, PTA and the West Millbrook Business Alliance. We are proud that it has been an integral part of our curriculum at West Millbrook Middle School since the mid-1990s. Our goal is to provide our students with speakers who are excited about what they do and will help our students start to see all the wonderful future possibilities that education and a strong work ethic creates for them. Our award-winning program has been successful over the years because of wonderful people such as you who generously donate time.

Truck FairTruck Fairs highlight careers that use trucks, cars, or other vehicles as part of the day-to-day workplace activities. Our fair will allow students to speak with people in careers that aren't considered "office jobs" and to see their work vehicles. The goal is that students gain an appreciation for careers in the many industries that depend on travel or transportation to function in the marketplace.

Job ShadowingWest Millbrook's Job Shadow Day is an optional event that provides WMMS eighth graders, who choose to participate, an opportunity to shadow a professional at their place of work for part of a workday. Activities vary from shadowing their parents to shadowing other business hosts. Observing, and sometimes helping, in the workplace often provides motivations for students to strive to reach their potential in school, and offers a critical link between education and success.
